OUR MISSION
To reduce the prevalence and impact of parental alienation and its consequences in Canada through education, support, public awareness, and shared parenting defaults

Parent-Child Trauma Coerced Attachment and Alienation
Parent-child trauma, coerced attachment, and alienation occur when manipulative behaviors and coercive control tactics are used to damage the relationship between a child and their parent

Alienating Tactics by Problematic Coercive Parents
Problematic coercive parents use alienating tactics to manipulate a child’s perception of the other parent or family members, leading to emotional distress and fractured relationships.

Call for Action
The federal Divorce Act mandates family law policy, which is implemented by province. Christine Giancarlo’s book documents several parental alienation cases in Canada, and outlines solutions for the Divorce Act.
The 5 Factor Model for Identifying Alienating Dynamics
The 5 Factor Model for Identifying Alienating Dynamics is a framework recognized by the Canadian Child Protection from Alienation Foundation (CPAF) to identify cases of parental alienation, where a child unjustly rejects one parent due to manipulation by the other. This model highlights five key factors that indicate alienation: the child’s resistance or refusal to contact the alienated parent without a valid reason, a previously positive relationship between the child and the now-rejected parent, the absence of abuse or neglect that would justify the rejection, alienating behaviors of the preferred parent, such as bad-mouthing or restricting contact, and the child exhibiting symptoms of alienation, like unwarranted hostility or rejecting the alienated parent without guilt. By recognizing these patterns, CPAF aims to raise awareness, guide professionals, and support families in addressing parental alienation. The model emphasizes the importance of early intervention, legal action, and psychological support to protect the well-being of children and ensure they maintain balanced relationships with both parents.
